Horst Fürsattel and his company hf have been recognized for more than 20 years as a benchmark manufacturer of excellent paddlesports safety equipment. Horst was one of the pivotal members in the AKC ( Alpiner Kajak Club) who contributed to the development of many safety innovations of modern paddling - the chest harness, cows-tail, throwbag and paddle hook. Horst took those “garage workshop” ideas and concepts and turned them into safety products distributed worldwide.
In developing hf, Horst participated in the growth of German paddlesports and built one of the earliest paddling teams whose members included icons like Arnd Schaeftlein. In more recent years, Horst has brought the globe paddlesports market together in Nuremberg, Germany at the Kanumesse event, making it clear to the larger outdoor industry that a Paddlesports-only show could be successful and sustainable. From the debut of Kanumesse in 2002 that hosted a few dozen exhibitors, Horst has turned the recently renamed Paddle Expo into a ‘must attend’ for nearly 1,500 members of the international paddlesports trade.
