IWHOF’s honorees are extraordinary people because they fell in love with the adventure and romance of whitewater rivers. They challenged themselves to achieve their best as athletes and citizens, as adventurers and inventors. They are the inspiration behind all of IWHOF’s efforts, and their stories will inspire you too.
The Hall of Fame was founded in 2003 by Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI), Inc., of Garrett County Maryland. ASCI is home of the first mountaintop artificial whitewater course in the world. IWHOF then partnered with the Paddlesports Industry Foundation.
World River Center
The World River Center (WRC) seeks to connect those who love rivers and the challenge of whitewater to inspire tomorrow’s explorers, innovators, competitors, and advocates.
The WRC leads a collaborative of worldwide partners to develop and maintain a central, publicly accessible archive of whitewater activities, share educational and experiential opportunities for river enthusiasts, and celebrate excellence and leadership in the river community.
One of the primary responsibilities of the WRC is to oversee the International Whitewater Hall of Fame (IWHOF) biennial nomination and selection process and induction events.
