Tony Estanguet is three-time European champion, three-time world champion and three-time Olympic champion.

Tony holds a total of twelve ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships medals, five gold, six silver, and one bronze across the individual and team events, while also holding a total of ten medals at the European Championships, including four gold, three silver and three bronze.

His Olympic gold medals at the Sydney 2000 games, Athens 2004 games and London 2012 games make him the only French Olympian to win gold in three different Olympiads. He was elected to the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes Commission in 2012, and has been especially involved in the IOC’s Sustainability and Legacy Commission. He has also been Vice-President of the International Canoe Federation since 2014.

In 2008, he served as the flag-bearer for France at the Beijing Summer Olympics opening ceremony; and he continued bearing the French flag as he led the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee. Alongside Bernard Lapasset and all the stakeholders involved in the project – the sports movement, civil society, public sector and private sector, his campaign won France the Games after the country’s bids had been declined five times.
